The porcelain A20 and A30 INDOOR standoffs and bus support insulators supplied by MV POWER provide years of reliable and consistent performance in the most rugged environments. Proven as nearly non-destructible, switchgear designers continue to specify porcelain insulators for their key projects.

The design of our electrical standoffs and bus support insulators takes into account both the mechanical and electrical requirements of IEEE, IEC, NEMA and ANSI Standards. Testing is also performed in accordance with the applicable industry standards. Custom porcelain electrical insulators are also designed and manufactured for customer specific applications and requirements.

3) 7" OD HIGH STRENGTH PORCELAIN INSULATORS

NOTE: Maintenance of porcelain standoffs and bus insulators is really not required as the glaze coating on the exterior of the insulator keeps dirt and pollutants from adhering to the insulator. The metal fittings, when used on station post, bus and standoff insulators are made from metals that will not deteriorate and are ideal for supporting copper and aluminum bus bars.

MV POWER offers OUTDOOR porcelain station post insulators with standard strength and high-strength ratings.  

Standard strength porcelain station post insulators are typically used in all standard medium voltage switch and bus applications. They meet or exceed all ANSI standards in both electrical and mechanical characteristics for their voltage class. 

High strength porcelain station post insulators are used when an extra amount of mechanical strength is required for heavy-duty bus and switch projects. High-strength porcelain station post insulators have the same electrical ratings as the standard strength porcelain station post insulators. In applications where there are severe short circuits, high-strength porcelain station post insulators are often used. They meet or exceed all ANSI standards in both electrical and mechanical characteristics for their voltage class. 

Porcelain station post insulators are usually installed in the vertical position, but they can also be used horizontally. Note that when using them in horizontal applications, the working load strength must be de-rated for 50% of the net weight of the unit. In other words, if you have a station post rated at 2,500 lbs. cantilever, the maximum recommended working load is 1,000 lbs.

MV Switchgear Porcelain Switch Insulators - Stud Type

MV POWER LLC now distributes switch post insulators specifically designed for outdoor in-line switches and distribution switches. These are also used for hook-stick operated disconnect switches and cabinet fuse mounting.

These are manufactured and tested in accordance with the requirements of ANSI C29.9. The switch insulators are solid core with hot-dipped galvanized steel hardware on each end of the insulator.
